The Strong Religious Diversity in Lombok Island

Traveling to Lombok Island will become a very interesting activity to you. Lombok Island is not only rich in beautiful scenery but also for the religious diversity. Almost many people know that Lombok is a special island in Indonesia. In this island, we can see that Hindu and Moslem have a very good interaction in every single part. From long time ago Lombok local people have a unique tradition to show people about it. Come to Lombok Island and you will really know about it. In Lombok Island, you can easily find a temple. One of the famous temples in Lombok is Lingsar Temple. This temple firstly builds at 1741 and this temple is the most sacred temple in Lombok Island. When you are visiting this temple then you can see the uniqueness that you will never see in other temple in Indonesia. This Lingsar temple has special design that combine from both religions that are Hindu and Moslem. The history of this temple is to show about the unity symbol in Lombok Island.

Until now, Lombok local people and Sasak are together taking care of this temple. For you who want to come to this temple have to understand about the unwritten regulation. You are not allowed to bring something that contains beef and pork. Hindu and Moslem do not accept that kind of meat. You also have to wear some cloth wrapped around your waist. That a symbol to respect the Lingsar temple that considered sacred of Hindu and Moslem people around it. This temple also used for both of the religions to pray.

Besides that, you can also see the traditional ceremony of Lombok Island named ‘ Perang Topat’. Actually, this just kind of symbol; the word ‘perang’ does not mean that they have real war. This special moment is usually held on November to December every year. The ‘Perang Topat’ is the symbol of the inter- religious harmony in Lombok Island. This is the unique tradition that still exists until today. When this event is held on then people will come from every parts of Lombok Island. This also become the most wanted moment that search by many photographer around the world.

All of the tradition that still exists in Lombok Island until now is good to teach us about the humanity. Religion should be our guide to have better life in this world.
