Visit NTB Museum
One of the best places in Nusa Tenggara Barat is a NTB Museum. This place is well known as a Museum Lombok. This museum takes places in the city center of Mataram City and near to Rendang Le village. You can find and enjoy more than 7500 pieces of collection there. There are so many historical relics that available in the museum. Visit this museum and enjoy the rich of the culture that you never see before. When you firstly come to this museum, you will find a very big estuarine crocodile that have been preserved. The crocodile is in the glass box.
After through the crocodile, you will find a room with many paintings on the wall. The paintings will tell you about some traditional art from Lombok and Sumbawa. The next is the two main big rooms that are the permanent exhibition room on this NTB Museum. Inside the first room, you will find the detail relief of Lombok islands. You will also find the detail flora and fauna that available on this island. This museum also gives you miniature relief of Prambanan temple and Borobudur temple. You can see them in detail.
In the second room, you will find some collection of traditional clothes of Bali, Sasak, Bima and Sumbawa. Here is also available the traditional woven cloth wear by Bima. The loom will also stay there but you cannot touch or even use it. This museum also keeps the original woven pattern named Subahnala and Ngusuwaru. Both of them are limited and historical. For you who love to collect some porcelain then here is also available porcelain original from China. Besides that, you can also see the traditional musical instrument, tools of worship of Hindus and Moslems, traditional play tools, sword and knives with original carved letters Sasak and others priceless thing.
On the other side of this museum, you can see the original document named Takepan. All of them made from palm leaves and wood. Each of it is written in the Arabic letter and also Sasak. Each Takepan has its story. You can read it freely there. This Lombok Museum has 4 Takepan that still original. You can also know about other life style of local people in the past time. This museum still keeps all of it very well and no one who can bring it outside freely.
The most interesting in this museum is about the collection. You can see the oldest porcelain that still in very good condition. You know that porcelain from China has a very high price in the market but of course, you cannot buy them. You can also find the best ‘tenun’ that made by using traditional way. The age of this woven is more than years but the condition still perfect. Lombok has many special things that will make you feel comfortable to stay there.
